Irish DJ’s We Think Are Taking Over

The music scene in Ireland is booming at the moment, with heavyweight Techno nights appearing all over Dublin and Belfast (take a look at our favourite clubs here). The buzz of the scene has got us thinking… which Irish DJ’s are making waves over here and worldwide! Here’s our favourites… let us know what you think.

Bicep (Belfast)

Ever since we heard there 50 minute Boiler Room set back in 2012, we’ve been hooked! Andy Ferguson and Matthew McBriar represent something big for Belfast, a force that has broken on to international recognition. With their party techno anthems and record label “Feel My Bicep” they’re taking over the scene at a rapid rate and we love it!

Their AVA Festival at T13 took things to a whole new level, giving something back to the city with a full day & night event (check it out above), causing a stir online with people eager to know the unreleased tracks they played.

Listen to: “Dahlia”, “Just”, “Lyk Lyk”

Ejeca (Belfast)

Along with Bicep, Ejeca is putting Belfast on the techno map with his heavy electronic beats and oustanding festival sets, with appearances at Creamfields, Bestival and Forbidden Fruit over the summer. We can’t get enough of the guy, and his Facebook page is full of short videos of tracks he’s working on.

It’s safe to say Ejeca has got his hands full as he maintains a worldwide DJ tour schedule, continues to keep us guessing with his musical output and lays the foundation for the next stage of his career with Exploris (his new record label).

Listen to: “You (w/ Bicep)”, “Rosario”, “Horizon”

Or:la (Derry)

Orlagh Dooley (Or:la) originated from Derry and now resides in Liverpool, making waves over there with her sets at Chibuku, Parklife, Waxxx and more.

Her recent Ministry of Sound mix is an absolute winner with us here and we can’t wait to hear more!

Matador (Dublin)

Dublin’s Matador has made his way to the forefront of the Techno scene in a very quick time. With releases on Richie Hawtin’s “Plus 8” and more, his outgoing personality, combined with the vibrant nature of his music has helped him engender a unique party atmosphere at his shows, making him a must see on any line up!

We’re definitely making the trip over to Liverpool to see him play Circus on the 28th November!

Listen to: “D-Clash (remix)”, “Kingswing”
